GRAND FORKS, N.D. – In the 2019 finale, Ashley Brueggeman made University of North Dakota volleyball history against Oral Roberts, becoming just the eighth player in program history to reach 1,200 kills and 1,400 points in a career at UND. The Fighting Hawks fell to the Golden Eagles, 16-25, 23-25, 25-16, 22-25.

Brueggeman reached both plateaus in the match as she finished with 14 kills and three blocks to close the night with 15.5 points. She closes her career as a Fighting Hawk No. 7 in career kills (1,212) and No. 6 in points in the rally score era with precisely 1,400 points.

The University of North Dakota ended the season 12-18 overall and 4-12 in The Summit League while Oral Roberts picked up its eighth win and jumped the Hawks in The League standings with its 4-11 mark. ORU owns the tiebreaker over North Dakota as it defeated Omaha at the start of Summit League play.

The Fighting Hawks battled in the second set with Oral Roberts as it rallied back from a 17-12 deficit to lead 21-18. The teams traded blows late and tied it up 23-23; however, North Dakota trailed the Golden Eagles in the match at intermission, 2-0.

UND played a spirited third set as it hit .342 with 16 kills in the frame while holding Oral Roberts to a .167 hitting percentage. As a result, North Dakota won 25-16 to extend the match to a fourth set.

That same gusto carried over into the fourth as Lexi Ahrens, and Brueggeman recorded back-to-back blocks to rally the crowd of 782 fans at The Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. Oral Roberts went on lead 16-9 halfway through the frame and held a seven-point lead at match point. However, the Hawks gave one last effort with Lydia Rutten serving as they closed the gap to two points.
