SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - University of North Dakota senior
Ashley Brueggeman may have closed her career on Nov. 15 against Oral Roberts, but the outside hitter earned recognition from The Summit League on Thursday, garnering the all-league honorable mention accolades.
Brueggeman was the lone Fighting Hawk to earn accolades from The Summit League this season, after closing the regular season in the top-10 in kills (seventh), kills per set (ninth), and points (ninth).
Beginning the season as the right-side hitter, Brueggeman eventually shifted to the outside to be utilized as a defensive asset in the back row as well. Along with her 3.15 kills per set, Brueggeman averaged 2.17 digs per set and hit .256 on the season.
Brueggeman also recorded 10-or-more kills 19 times this season, hitting over .250 12 times and over .300 on eight of those occasions. Among attackers who averaged three kills per set, the Eden Prairie, Minn., native led in hitting percentage in the group of nine Summit League players.
She became only the seventh player in program history to record 1,200 kills and finished her career in the top-10 in University of North Dakota history in both kills and points.
