With the program's youth helping put the University of North Dakota back on a winning track - and setting school records in the process - the Fighting Hawks will play a pair of games over the Thanksgiving weekend as they play at South Carolina State and Charleston Southern on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
SCOUTING SOUTH CAROLINA STATE
After a trip to Las Vegas, South Carolina State enters Friday's contest with a 1-5 record, falling to UNLV last time out, 66-57. The Bulldogs last win came at Charleston Southern on Nov. 9, clinching an overtime win over the Buccaneers, 81-75. SCSU has a pair of double-digit scorers in Taylor Brown and Heniaya Moton with Brown leading the team at 16.6 points per game while Moton owns a clip of 11.8. South Carolina State has been consistent attacking the basket, earning 146 trips to the free throw line.
SCOUTING CHARLESTON SOUTHERN
Though it's opened the season at both Florida State and North Carolina, Charleston Southern enters Saturday's game with an 0-4 record. The Buccaneers were last in action on Tuesday afternoon, dropping the contest against Bethune Cookman, 81-41. CSU also has a pair of double-digit scorers Sharita Godfrey (12.3) and Carmella Walker (10.0), carrying the team's scoring average of 51.5 points.
QUITE A STRETCH OF PLAY
North Dakota is on a stretch of four games in six-day span, finishing 1-1 in its first two games at The Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The Fighting Hawks base themselves out of Charleston for a four night stay, heading to Orangeburg, S.C., to take on South Carolina State before following up the next day with a tilt at Charleston Southern.
THE QUIET COG
Alaina Jarnot has silent killer for the UND women's basketball team during its 5-2 start to the season, ranking sixth in the NCAA with 38 assists. She's averaged 8.0 helpers per game in the last three, nearly recording a double-double versus Valparaiso (nine rebounds, eight assists), and following up with seven assists versus ISU. In only 13 minutes against Northland, the Hawks lone senior dished nine assists, helping UND to a season-best 31 assists.

The Fighting Hawks will take a week off and return to action in Dallas, Texas on Dec. 9 at SMU. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
