Marlon Stewart's team-high 20 points and another double-double from
Filip Rebraca, the University of North Dakota men's basketball team made it two wins in as many days at Alico Arena on the campus of FGCU with an 80-68 victory over Georgia Southern Saturday afternoon in the Hilton Garden Inn FGCU Classic.
UND (4-4) has now rattled off three straight wins, moving back to the .500 mark and going for the tournament title tomorrow morning vs. Campbell.
In a game that saw the Fighting Hawks hold the lead for over 30 minutes, the victory looked in doubt late in the second half before another scoring run boosted the green and white to victory. With Georgia State (4-3) leading by six, 60-54, with 7:14 to play, UND struck for 17 of the next 19 points to build a lead as high as 12 to come away with the win.
Stewart exploded in the second half for UND, striking for 16 of his 20 points over the final 20 minutes of action to break his two-game streak of 10-or-fewer points. The senior also chipped in nine rebounds and dished out a team-best four assists in the win.
Rebraca continued to do what he does best, post double-doubles. The Serbian was efficient and strong on the glass with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting and 14 rebounds to collect his Summit League-leading fifth double-double of the season.
De'Sean Allen-Eikens as the final Fighting Hawk in double figures with 18 points on 5-of-10 from the field, including hitting three of his six tries from distance. The redshirt freshman was limited to just 23 minutes due to foul trouble, but still managed to add three rebounds, two steals, and an assist.
Despite shooting only 38.9% from the field, North Dakota got to the free throw line with abundance and hit hit efficiency when it got there, hitting 29-of-32 (90.6 %) in the win. The defense suffocated the Georgia Southern offense by holding the Eagles to just 30.2% shooting.
It was a back-and-forth affair to start the contest, with both teams trading runs early; however, UND blew open the game by taking a 13-11 lead and turning it into a 26-15 advantage at the midway point of the opening half.

Gertautas Urbonavicius continued his hot play of late with a dunk and makes at the charity stripe to give the Hawks their largest lead of the opening half.
GSU was able to climb back into the game, chipping the lead down to four on a pair of occasions, but a Stewart layup prior to the horn gave the Hawks a 37-32 lead heading into the halftime break.
Turnovers kept the Eagles in the game during the first half, turning 10 UND turnovers into 13 points. The second half was much cleaner for the Fighting Hawks with only four giveaways.
Georgia Southern came out hotter from the field in the opening moments of the second half, finally cutting into the North Dakota lead before taking a 52-51 lead with 11 minutes to play in the contest. The Eagles didn't slow down, pushing their advantage to six on a pair of occasions and looked to be taking control of the momentum as the game wore on.
Just like Friday night's strong rally late, UND did it again. The Hawks struck for 26 of the next 34 points, including a 17-2 stretch, to seize momentum right back and build an insurmountable lead. It was strong defense and the free-throw line that helped UND on the spurt, holding the Eagles to just one made field goal over the last 7:11 of the game and hitting 10-of-12 at the charity stripe over that span to close out the win.
North Dakota will conclude the tournament on Sunday afternoon against Campbell with at 11 a.m. (CT) from Alico Arena.
