Belmore named to athletics fundraising post

GRAND FORKS, N.D. — Former UND assistant football coach and current UND College of Arts & Sciences Development Officer Tim Belmore has been hired as Associate Athletic Director, Athletics Major Gifts. In the position, Belmore will work closely with UND Athletics to enhance and support fundraising efforts.

"I'm excited to work on behalf of UND student-athletes," said Belmore. "I know the passion that UND alumni have for their alma mater and its sports teams and I look forward to working with donors and UND Athletics leaders to produce champions in the classroom and in competition."

Belmore was an assistant football coach at UND from 2000 to 2012. He then coached at the University of Jamestown and the University of Mary. In 2017, he took a fundraising position with the University of Mary. He joined the UND Alumni Association & Foundation (UNDAAF) as Director of Development for the College of Arts & Sciences in January 2019.

"Tim is such a great fit for this position," said Mike Mannausau, UNDAAF Vice President of Development. "We need someone who starts every day thinking about what is best for student-athletes and then has the knowledge and drive to make those dreams a reality. Tim's background in coaching, his enthusiasm for UND Athletics, and his experience as an effective fundraiser give me complete confidence that great days are ahead for UND Athletics."

Belmore joins Coltyn Sanderson, who is also an Associate Athletic Director, Athletics Major Gifts, at the UND Alumni Association & Foundation. The two will focus on priorities like expanding scholarship opportunities for student-athletes and finding private funding for Phase II of the High Performance Center.

"Working with donors to secure funding for all 17 of our athletic programs as well as working toward our vision for athletic capital projects will be a major priority for Tim," said Bill Chaves, UND Athletics Director. "These capital projects, which includes Phase II of the High Performance Center, will mean so much for so many student-athletes for many years to come. I'm pleased that we have someone with Tim's background joining our fundraising team. Good things happen when you combine passion with expertise and that's exactly what we are getting with Tim."

Belmore will begin his new duties on March 16.
