GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Ross Armour struck just 53 seconds into overtime to push No. 20 Bemidji State past No. 7 North Dakota, 4-3, on Saturday night from Ralph Engelstad Arena.
 
UND (3-1-0) sent the 11,314 fans into a frenzy moments early, when Ashton Calder potted his second goal of the game to tie the game at three with just 48 seconds remaining, but a stretch pass to Armour from Alex Ierullo allowed him to get free and chip a puck over the shoulder of Zach Driscoll to had the Beavers (1-3-0) their first win of the season and first in Grand Forks since Oct. 10, 2014.
 
Driscoll, making his second straight start against his former team, surrendered four goals on 17 shots just 24 hours after stopping 30-of-33 at the Sanford Center in Bemidji. BSU turned to junior Michael Carr in net, who turned aside 31 of the 34 thrown his way.
 
It was Bemidji State who came out flying to open the game, striking twice in the first 88 seconds of the game to build a quick 2-0 lead. Kyle Looft opened the scoring on the second BSU shot, firing a wrister from the point over the glove of Driscoll to put the visitors in front, 1-0, just 47 seconds in.
 
Moments later, the Beavers made it 2-0 when a turnover in front of the net allowed a loose puck to find the stick of Tyler Kirkup, who made no mistake upstairs to double the lead and force UND to burn its timeout early in the contest.
 
North Dakota seemed to find its footing following the stoppage, with Calder cutting the deficit in half just 3:17 into the first period. Connor Ford drew the defender his way before sliding a puck over to Calder, who deposited the puck through the legs of Carr to score his fifth goal in 18 career games against the Beavers.
 
Both teams earned power play opportunities as the period wore on, but it wasn't until the 17:39 that Kirkup and the Beavers struck again on a backdoor play that just trickled over the line to send the visitors to the first intermission with a 3-1 lead.
 
After striking for three quick goals in the second period on Friday, North Dakota looked to duplicate the feat on Saturday. Despite outshooting the Beavers, 11-4, in the frame, the Hawks could only muster one past Carr to trim the lead to 3-2 with 20 minutes to play.
 
Riese Gaber extended his point streak to four straight games when he pounced on a loose puck in front of the net following a wraparound attempt by Louis Jamernik for his second tally of the year and a 3-2 game.
 
Much like the second period, the final regulation stanza featured a plethora of chances for the hosts, but the breakthrough didn't come until the final minute. Connor Ford won a puck race to the corner and fed a pass out to Jake Schmaltz, who picked up his own rebound and centered to Calder in front. The transfer went through the legs of Carr for the second time on the night to knot the game at three with just 48 seconds to play.
 
It was Armour and the Beavers who had the last laugh; however, potting the overtime winner as both teams were able to celebrate a win on the other's home ice.
 
North Dakota will hit the road for a pair of games at Quinnipiac next weekend.
