GRAND FORKS, N.D. – North Dakota looks to close out the home regular season slate on a high note, hosting Illinois State on Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Alerus Center in Grand Forks.
Fans can watch the action on Midco Sports and ESPN+, as Alex Heinert and Ryan Kasowski call the action or tune into the Home of Economy Radio Network with Jack Michaels, Tom Dosch and Paul Ralston.
This is the second all-time meeting between North Dakota and Illinois State, with the first coming all the way back in 1979. There, the Fighting Sioux took down ISU, 20-0, at Memorial Stadium in Grand Forks.
North Dakota trailed Youngstown State by two scores with 10 minutes left in the game last weekend, but it was the Hawks picking up the 24-21 win after scoring 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter at the Alerus Center.UND piled up 21 first downs in the contest to Youngstown State's 17.
The Hawks had 30 rushes for 163 yards and 191 yards through the air, while the Penguins recorded 45 rushes for 203 yards and finished with 75 yards through the air.
Sixteen Hawks had at least one tackle on the day and were led by Jordan Canady and Devon Krzanowski with 10 and nine tackles, respectively. Marcus Vaughn-Jones put an end to one YSU drive with an interception. C.J. Siegel, Jaxson Turner and Ben McNaboe all racked up at least 1.0 sack.
It has been a long time since UND has mounted a comeback like it did on Saturday against the Penguins, rallying from an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter to pick up the 24-21 victory. It marks the first time since Oct. 19, 2019 at Cal Poly that UND has rallied from a deficit of 10-or-more at any point and won and the first since Nov. 12, 2016 vs. Northern Arizona that the green and white have mounted a double-digit rally in the fourth quarter.
