Series History vs. CBU
This will be the first-ever meeting between UND and CBU.

Last Time Out
North Dakota dropped a 76-51 decision to San Jose State in San Jose on Friday night. The Hawks trailed 27-26 at the break, but the Spartans took the second half by a tally of 49-25, and that proved to be the difference in the 76-51 loss at the Provident Credit Union Event Center. Mitchell Sueker led the Hawks and narrowly missed out on a double-double with a team leading 16 points to go with nine rebounds. North Dakota shot 26.3 percent in the contest compared to San Jose State hitting 47.6 percent of its shots.

Reed Nottage added 12 points and six rebounds, while Taran Armstrong just missed out on a triple-double with 11 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds.

Fearless Freshman
Freshman Paul Bruns has played a key role in the success of the team so far this young season and it has paid off with him earning his first collegiate start on Tuesday (Nov. 30),  vs. Presentation. Against the Saints, Bruns knocked down five shots for 15 points, including three triples to go with one shot rejection. On Friday, Bruns had his second career start and chipped in eight points to go with a team-high three steals at San Jose State.

Bruns does not shy away from strong competition, leading the team with 13 points against Milwaukee, 18 points at Florida International and 16 points at Kansas State. The Jefferson, S.D., native has a team leading 14 made three-pointers this season and leads the team in average steals per game with 1.6.

Keeping Things Even
North Dakota had five returners in 2021-22 and nine newcomers and so far they are keeping things even. As a team, the Fighting Hawks have scored 585 points this season with the newbies pouring in 294 of them and the returners amassing 291 points. In total, the newcomers have scored 50.25 percent of the points this season, while the returners have accounted for 49.75 percent of UND's made shots.

Heat Check
North Dakota is familiar with shots from beyond the arc and that has not changed this season, with the Fighting Hawks firing off 228 shots from deep and knocking down 70 of them for an average of 30.7 percent made from three-point land. The best three-point shooting performance this year came at Florida Atlantic where the Hawks shot 48.3 percent from deep, knocking down 14 of the 29 tries. The most three-pointers ever hit in a game by North Dakota is 16, which occurred against Northland College on Dec. 17, 2019. The Fighting Hawks have hit at least one triple in every game dating back to March 1, 2018. The last time the Hawks didn't make a three came on Feb. 24, 2018, when the Hawks went 0-8 from downtown at Northern Colorado in a 79-66 loss. UND has hit at least one three in each of the last 102 games played.
