TAMPA, Fla. -- South Florida tallied eight runs in the bottom of the fourth to post a 12-0 victory over North Dakota in five innings on Friday afternoon from Tampa, Fla.
UND (8-15) ran into trouble in that fourth frame, allowing a pair of home runs and eight total runs to break a 4-0 game open in the loss.
Three pitchers entered the circle for the Fighting Hawks, led by
Adrianna Dilal's two innings of work to start. The fifth-year player struck out two and only walked one, but allowed seven hits and four runs to drop to 3-4 on the season.
Lauren Feld and
Madi Moore finished off the game, with Moore also hitting for the Hawks at the DP position.
Ashlynn Uvila and
Jocelyn Kirk both tallied a hit for the visitors, with Uvila moving into third on the team with 15 hits on the year.
South Florida jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second before doubling its lead with a pair of runs in its ensuing turn at the plate, but the big inning provided the difference in the victory.
UND and USF will play two games on Saturday, beginning at 10:30 a.m. from Tampa, and can be seen on ESPN+.
