DENVER -- The University of North Dakota men's tennis team fell, 4-0, to No. 45 and top-seeded Denver in the semifinals of the Summit League Tennis Championships on Friday morning from Denver.
UND, playing in its first postseason contest in its Division I history, end the season with a 10-8 record and 2-3 mark in Summit League play. This marks the third straight season the Fighting Hawks claimed double-digit wins, the longest streak in program history.
In doubles play, the Pioneers jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a pair of wins on the top-two courts. UND claimed a point from both, but ultimately fell, 6-1.
DU claimed the matches with singles victories on the No. 1, 5 and 6 courts, but the Fighting Hawks didn't go down without a fight.
Edmond Aynedjian, who was named to the Summit League All-Tennis Team on Thursday, won his first set by a 6-4 score and was battling in the second set when match was called.
Cian McDonnell was also leading, 4-2, in his second set at the third spot after dropping a 7-5 decision in the opening stanza.
