Hawks Drop Pair of Matches in Michigan

Mount Pleasant, Mich. – North Dakota Volleyball returned to action at the Chippewa Invitational with a pair of matches against Central Michigan and Youngstown State.
 
Central Michigan 3, North Dakota 0
The North Dakota Fighting Hawks dropped a three set match to host Central Michigan (25-18, 25-19, 25-12). 

Madi Hart tallied 15 digs through the first two sets and finished with 17. 

Lexi Ahrens led the way for the Hawks with seven kills.  Ahrens hit .429 on the match on 14 swings.

A pair of freshmen, Ashlyn Olson and Maddy Hornyak along with junior Abi McGlynn each had six kills. 

The Hawks recorded seven blocks to just three for the Chippewas.  Ahrens contributed four block assists.

Youngstown State 3, North Dakota 0
Sophomore Alexa Albinson had a huge match for the Hawks as Youngstown State defeated North Dakota in three sets (25-13, 25-17, 25-20). 

Midway through the second the Hawks whittled a six point deficit down to one but were unable to complete the comeback.

At intermission Albinson had seven kills on 13 swings for a hitting percentage of .538.  She finished the match with nine kills, hitting .280. 

Ashlyn Olson earned the start and scored six kills to go along with four block assists. 

Lexi Ahrens was big at the net with two solo blocks and was in on four block assists.

A tight third set went the way of the Penguins who pulled away late.

The Hawks return to action at 11 a.m. tomorrow to take on the Butler Bulldogs.
