UND comes into the weekend with a 5-3 overall record and a 3-2 standing in the MVFC. Last week, North Dakota outlasted Abilene Christian, 34-31 in non-conference play inside the Alerus Center. Neither team led by more than 10 points and the Fighting Hawk offense milked the final 7:48 of clock to hold on for the victory. The North Dakota offensive line played a huge role in the final drive, allowing the Fighting Hawks to pick up first downs twice on third-and-short with quarterback sneaks from
Quincy Vaughn.
ISU enters Saturday with a 1-7 record and an 0-5 mark in conference play. Last week, the Sycamores fell 49-7 to the top-ranked Jackrabbits. Indiana State finished the game with 260 total yards of offense, posting 154 passing yards and 106 yards rushing. Wide receiver Dante Hendrix led the ISU receivers with four receptions for 41 yards, now having caught at least four passes in 34 consecutive games.
North Dakota and Indiana State have never played each other on the football field. Both teams enter the contest with familiarity with one-score games this season. UND is 4-0 in games decided by a touchdown or less, while ISU is 1-4 in games decided by seven points or less.
