GRAND FORKS, N.D. – North Dakota scored the first 18 points of the game and the score was never closer, with the Hawks (4-3) running away with a 77-30 victory over Wisconsin-Superior inside the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center on Friday night.
Every Fighting Hawk scored at least one point in the contest, led by
Kacie Borowicz pouring in 12 points. She also dished out three assists and had two steals in her 18 minutes of play.
Juliet Gordon was the only other UND player in double figures, netting 10 points and grabbing four boards in 14 minutes.
Nakiyah Hurst threw in nine points while corralling a season-high seven rebounds. She also was responsible for three steals and one shot rejection.
Mikayla Aumer not only chipped in the first point of her UND career but scored nine points total. She finished 4-for-4 at the charity stripe.
Claire Orth and
Sammiyah Hoskin were the next closest to double digits, putting in eight points apiece. Orth also had seven boards and three steals.
North Dakota dominated the paint with advantages in points down low (40-8) and rebounds (46-32). The Fighting Hawks were also stout defensively, recording 18 steals and scoring 29 points off turnovers.
The Hawks hit 42.6 percent of its shots, added four triples and went 21-for-26 at the line. The Yellowjackets hit 21.2 percent of their shots from the field, made two shots from downtown and went 6-for-10 at the stripe.
UND started the game on an 18-0 run and never looked back, leading 22-4 at the end of the first quarter. North Dakota led for 39:50, only not having the lead in the first 10 seconds of play. The Hawks led by as many as 47 points and won by a tally of 77-30.
North Dakota will visit Eastern Michigan on Sunday, with the tip scheduled for 11 a.m. (CT). The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and will be carried on the Home of Economy Radio Network.
