Grand Forks, N.D. – The University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks (13-9,6-6 SL) had a big win against the South Dakota Coyotes (11-13, 7-6 SL), 83-66.
UND had six players in double digits and
Juliet Gordon recorded her second double- double on the campaign. The win today brings NoDak back to .500 in Summit league play.
Juliet Gordon led with 15 pts and 11 rebounds (3 OR, 8 DR). This is her second double- double on the season.
Kacie Borowicz continues her 31 double digit game scoring streak with 12. She also records eight rebounds (1 OR, 7 DR) and led with six assists.
Joli Daninger had 11 points.
Claire Orth scored 11 pts and had two steals.
Nakiyah Hurst and
Maggie Manson both had ten points on the night.
South Dakota came out hot at the start of the first quarter, going on a 7-0 run. North Dakota would not score its first points till a
Kacie Borowicz jumper made at 7:11. The Fighting Hawks would trade baskets throughout the first and would finally tie the game up at 4:43. NoDak would take a 25-16 lead into the second quarter. Towards the middle of the second, the Coyotes would make a push to close the gap and would momentarily take the lead back before the Hawks take a slim lead into halftime 41-36.
The third quarter, which has been a sore spot for UND this season, Hawks come out strong creating a ten point gap before the media timeout at 7:37. The Hawks would continue to spread the gap through the first half of the quarter before the Coyotes would make a big push closing the gap to two. NoDak would take a five-point lead heading into the final ten minutes. The fourth was more back and forth as the Hawks would fight to hold on to the lead and would create a 17-point gap to end the game 83-66.
North Dakota will continue Summit League play on Thursday, taking on Denver at 7 p.m. The game will air on Pioneer All-Access and will be carried on the Home of Economy Radio Network.
