LEXINGTON, K.Y. – The University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks (18-12) dropped the first game to the California Baptist Lancers (20-13), 96-79.

Kacie Borowicz led with 20 points and four assists.

Juliet Gordon earned for second straight double-double with 11 points and led with 12 boards. This is her 5^th of the season.

North Dakota trailed from the start when CBU drained a three with the first possession and continued to dominate in the first period on a 9-3 run. The Lancers outscored the Hawks 29-17 in the first. The second, North Dakota started to put some things together. They would outscore the Lancers by one, heading into the locker room trailing by eleven.

The third quarter UND went on an 8-0 run, things started to pick up. North Dakota brought the deficit down to seven. North Dakota came out and pushed hard trying to gain some ground late, coming within five. However a 25 point fourth quarter by the Lancers made it difficult for the Hawks to gain any ground. At the final buzzer, UND lost by 17.
