Perron’s OT snipe leads No. 12/14 UND to 4-3 win over Robert Morris

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Jayden Perron sniped home the game winner just under three minutes into overtime to give No. 12/14 North Dakota a 4-3 OT victory over Robert Morris on Friday night from Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, N.D.

The sophomore wired home a perfect pass from defenseman Jake Livanavage on a 4-on-3 power play in the extra session to snap a two-game losing streak and move the Fighting Hawks back to the .500 mark at 6-6-0 overall.

UND looked to be heading towards a regulation win, carrying a 2-0 lead into the final 20 minutes on goals from Caleb MacDonald (2) and Jackson Kunz (5) just 1:23 into the contest, but Robert Morris (4-4-2) rallied with a pair of tallies in the opening six minutes of the frame to knot the contest at 2-2.

Sacha Boisvert made it back-to-back games with a goal, sniping home his fourth of the season just minutes after the tying goal from RMU to restore the advantage at 3-2. The Colonials brought the game even once again in the dying seconds, with Tanner Klimpke's shot deflecting off a UND defender and into the net with just 5.7 seconds remaining to send the game into overtime.

North Dakota controlled most of the overtime session, eventually drawing a power play opportunity near the midway point of the extra session. Perron wasted no time on the man advantage, striking 14 seconds into the penalty to give the Hawks a much-needed 4-3 victory.

Four players recorded multiple points in the win for UND, with Livanavage and Jake Schmaltz each dishing out a pair of assists while Boisvert and Perron both potted a goal and a helper for multi-point outings.

Goaltender T.J. Semptimphelter put together one of his best outings of the season, finishing with 29 saves on 32 shots against to improve to 6-4-0 on the season. The Marlton, N.J., native came up with his biggest save of the night in the third when he dove to his right and made a save with the paddle of his stick to keep the Hawks in front, 3-2.

North Dakota will go for the series sweep tomorrow night at 6:07 p.m. from the Ralph. Fans can catch the action on Midco Sports and the Fighting Hawks Radio Network.
