DES MOINES, IA – The University of North Dakota women's basketball team fell to Drake University, 82-63, on Thursday evening at the Knapp Center. With the loss, the Fighting Hawks dropped to 3-7 on the season, while the Bulldogs improved to 4-5.
Drake opened the game with a dominant 27-10 first quarter, fueled by sharp three-point shooting (6-of-9). The Fighting Hawks found some momentum in the second period, outscoring the Bulldogs 20-13 behind Kiera Pemberton's efforts and strong bench contributions. Despite the rally, UND trailed 40-30 at halftime.
The Bulldogs regained control in the third quarter, extending their lead with efficient shooting (56.3% from the field). The Hawks managed 11 points in the frame but entered the fourth quarter down 63-41.
In the final frame, UND outscored Drake 22-19, highlighted by Jocelyn Schiller's late three-pointer and strong defensive effort, but the early deficit proved insurmountable.
The Fighting Hawks will return home to host Bethel on Saturday, December 14, at 1 p.m.
