COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The University of North Dakota men's tennis team closed out the weekend with a 6-1 defeat to Air Force on Sunday afternoon from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.
UND (2-7) fell behind early, with Air Force (2-3) notching a pair of wins on the No. 3 and 1 courts to take a 1-0 lead in doubles action. The pairing of
Ethan Terry and
Jerall Yasin were deadlocked in a 4-4 match at the middle spot when two-man play was halted.
After the Falcons extended the lead to 2-0 at the top position,
Leandro Zgraggen got the Fighting Hawks on the board on the No. 4 court with a 6-3, 6-2 score to gain the lone point of the day for the visitors.
Federico Fiorda nearly earned a second point at the No. 2 spot, but fell in a third set tiebreaker as Air Force finished off the 6-1 match victory.
North Dakota will enjoy a weekend off before returning to action at home against Marquette on Friday, Feb. 23 at 5 p.m. from Choice Health and Fitness.
