FLORENCE, Ala. -- The University of North Dakota men's tennis team fell, 5-2, to North Alabama on Saturday afternoon from the UNA Tennis Complex in Florence, Ala.
The Lions jumped out to a 1-0 lead in doubles action with victories on the top two courts, while
Leandro Zgraggen and
Christos Alex were locked in a tight, 5-4 battle at the bottom spot when play was halted.
North Alabama took control in singles play, winning the first four matches to grab the overall match victory, but the Fighting Hawks were able to battle for a pair of triumphs on the No. 6 and 2 courts to earn a pair of points.
Alex notched a victory by a 6-4, 6-2 score at the bottom spot to get the visitors on the board before
Victor Moreno Lozano battled for a win in three sets, 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8) to close out the day on a high note for the Fighting Hawks.
North Dakota closes the weekend at Eastern Kentucky on Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m.
