| By:

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota men's basketball team will travel to Oral Roberts for a Saturday night game, looking for the first regular season sweep of the Golden Eagles in program history.

Earlier this season, the Fighting Hawks snapped a seven game losing streak to the Golden Eagles with an 87-77 win in Grand Forks. B.J. Omot led the way with 25 points for UND while Tyree Ihenacho and Tsotne Tsartsidze both recorded double-doubles with 22 points/11 rebounds and 14 points/11 rebounds, respectively.

Against Denver Thursday, the Fighting Hawks went 12-14 from the foul line in the final five minutes of the second half to ice the victory.

Scouting the Opponent

The Golden Eagles are led by head coach Russell Springmann, who took over as head coach this summer after five years as an assistant coach. He has been an assistant coach at the University of Texas and has also been in the Oklahoma City Thunder organization.

The team is averaging 74.8 points per game, and allowing 75.8. From the floor the Golden Eagles are shooting .447 and .375 from three-point range. Isaac McBride is second in the conference with 20.3 points per game, while Jailen Bedford leads the team with 6.8 rebounds (fourth in the Summit League), and Kareem Thompson leads with 3.6 assists (fourth in SL) and 1.6 steals per game (second in SL).

Living Downtown

Last season the team broke the program record for three pointers made in a single game with 18 against Kansas City, breaking the record set on December 14, 2021 against North Central University.

North Dakota has hit at least one triple in every game dating back to Mar. 1, 2018. The last time the Hawks did not make a three came on Feb. 24, 2018, when UND went 0-for-8 from downtown at Northern Colorado in a 79-66 loss. North Dakota has hit at least one three in each of the last 184 games played.
