Box Score RICHMOND, Ky. -- The University of North Dakota men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Eastern Kentucky on Sunday evening from Greg Adams Tennis Center in Richmond, Ky.
UND (2-9) fell behind early, dropping a pair of doubles matches on the No. 1 and 3 courts. The middle duo of
Jerall Yasin and
Leandro Zgraggen closed out two-man play strong with a 7-5 victory at the second spot.
After Eastern Kentucky extended the lead to 2-0, Kevin-Ange Koua got the Fighting Hawks on the board in a thrilling, three-set match at the top spot. The Hampton transfer recorded a 7-5 victory in the opening stanza before a 6-2 defeat in the middle stanza pushed the contest to a tiebreaker. In the third set, Koua rallied from a 5-4 deficit to grab the triumph by a 7-6 (7-4) score to gain the only point of the evening for the Hawks.
EKU was able to close out the match victory with four straight singles victories, including two in three sets, to finish off the 6-1 win.
North Dakota returns to action next weekend for a pair of home matches beginning on Friday evening against Marquette at 5 p.m. from Choice Health and Fitness.
