NOTES: Fighting Hawks Host Roos, Seek Eighth Straight Win

| By:

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota men's basketball team will host Kansas City this Saturday, facing off with the Roos for the second time this season. The Fighting Hawks have won the last three games in the series, including a win in Kansas City last month that was the first win of the team's winning streak.

UND is riding a seven-game winning streak, the program's first in the Division I era. The last time that NoDak won eight straight in a season was during a ten game winning streak in the 2007-08 season. The last time UND won eight straight conference games was part of a nine game NCC winning streak in 1994-95.

Scouting the Opponent

The Roos are led by coach Marvin Menzies, who is in his second season as the team's head coach. He has a 21-36 record with the Roos and a 267-195 record overall.

The team is averaging 72.1 points per game, and allowing 71.3. From the floor the Roos are shooting .428 and .340 from three point range. Jamar Brown leads the team with 14.6 points per game and one steal per game, and leads with six rebounds a game. Khristion Courseault leads the team with four assists per game (second in the conference to Tommy Bruner) while Cameron Faas is one of the top shooters from deep in the Summit League with 61 threes made (three short of Treysen Eaglestaff—who leads the Summit League).

Living Downtown

Last season the team broke the program record for three pointers made in a single game with 18 against Kansas City, breaking the record set on December 14, 2021 against North Central University.

North Dakota has hit at least one triple in every game dating back to Mar. 1, 2018. The last time the Hawks did not make a three came on Feb. 24, 2018, when UND went 0-for-8 from downtown at Northern Colorado in a 79-66 loss. North Dakota has hit at least one three in each of the last 182 games played.
