PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas -- The University of North Dakota men's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 victory over Prairie View A&M on Thursday morning from the PVAMU Tennis Complex in Prairie View, Texas.
UND jumped out to a quick 1-0 start in doubles action with a pair of wins on the No. 2 and 3 courts. The middle duo of
Christos Alex and
Jerall Yasin rolled by a 6-0 score before
Jayho Hong and
Federico Fiorda followed with a 6-1 victory at the bottom spot to grab the momentum for the visitors heading into singles play.
The Fighting Hawks captured all 12 sets in singles action to notch the 7-0 match victory, with six of those sets coming by 6-1 or better scores.
Leandro Zgraggen saw action at the top spot and did not disappoint with a 6-1, 6-3 victory while
Ethan Terry also shined at the No. 2 position with a 6-2, 6-4 win.
Yasin and Hong kept up their strong play from doubles action into singles, each grabbing wins at the No. 3 and 4 courts by 6-2, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1 scores, respectively, while Alex and Fiorda also dominated on the bottom courts by each grabbing 6-2, 6-1 wins.
North Dakota will close out its road trip against UTRGV on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m.
