UND drops final match of Texas swing, 4-3, at UTRGV

Box Score RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas -- The University of North Dakota men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision at UTRGV on Friday night from the Orville Cox Tennis Center in Rio Grande Valley, Texas to close out a five-match road trip. 

UND battled in doubles play, with Ange-Kevin Koua and Victor Moreno Lozano evening two-man play up at 1-1 with a 6-4 win on the middle court, but the Vaqueros answered with a victory at the No. 3 spot to claim the doubles point and grab a 1-0 lead. 

After falling behind 2-0, the Fighting Hawks got on the board at the second position with a 6-2, 6-3 win from Leandro Zgraggen before Jayho Hong continued his strong week with a triumph at the No. 5 court by a 6-3, 6-4 score to cut the deficit to one once again at 3-2. 

The final two matches each went to a third set, Christos Alex earned the third point of the day for the visitors on the bottom court with a 7-6 (7-3), 1-6, 1-0 (10-8) win, but UTRGV claimed the match victory with a win at the No. 1 spot. 

North Dakota will return home for its final home match of the season against Omaha on Saturday, March 23 at 1:30 p.m. from Choice Health and Fitness.
