LINCOLN, Neb. – The North Dakota softball team began its weekend in the Cornhusker State with a showdown against the Northern Colorado Bears, the first time the two teams have met since the 2018 Big Sky Tournament. The Bears outlasted the Fighting Hawks after UND had the winning run at the plate in the bottom of the seventh.
All four runs for the Bears came in the top of the third, while in the bottom of the seventh Johanna Rodriguez led off with a single, then later Taya Hopfauf hit a two out single which moved pinch runner Hailey Bethune to second base. Hannah Thompson followed with a single up the middle to load the bases and Angie Dumlao singled up the middle to bring Bethune in from third. With the bases still loaded, UND could not get any more runs across.
