North Dakota Wraps Up Competition at Ole Miss Classic

OXFORD, Miss. – A trio of throwers from the North Dakota track and field team participated in the shot put at the Ole Miss Classic late Saturday afternoon. Kenna Curry paced the Fighting Hawks in the shot put and took eighth with a toss of 49-9 (15.16m).

Eve Goldstein and Julia Matthews also took part in the shot put. Goldstein finished just outside making finals and was 11th with a throw of 46-5 1/2 (14.16m). Matthews came in 14th and was just shy of making the UND top-10 list, recording a PR of 45-4 1/4 (13.82m) and beating her previous best of 42-8 3/4 (13.02m).

North Dakota will be in action at three meets this coming week. The Fighting Hawks are slated to compete at the Texas Relays (March 27-28), Stanford Invitational (March 29-30) and Mike Fanelli Track Classic (March 29-30).

Post-Meet Notes
* Only a handful of women's throwers from the UND track and field team competed at the Ole Miss Classic.
* Kenna Curry led the Fighting Hawks on Friday, placing sixth in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 207-2 (63.14m). Her PR is already better than the minimum mark for the Olympic trials, which is 206-8 (63.00m).
* Curry also paced North Dakota on Saturday and was eighth in the shot put with a throw of 49-9 (15.16m).
