LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A handful of North Dakota throwers began a busy week of competition with the hammer throw at the Twilight Open on Wednesday afternoon. The Fighting Hawks placed twice in the event.
Kenna Curry was the top Hawk, finishing as the runner-up in the women's section with a toss of 196-2 (59.80m).
Eve Goldstein also placed and took eighth with a personal-best throw of 168-1 (51.25m).
Julia Matthews and
Haidyn Skeen also competed in the first section and recorded PRs. Matthews was just outside placing territory and was 10th with a personal-best mark of 157-0 (47.87m). Skeen was 15th with a PR of 115-6 (35.21m).
Lucas Schweigert was in action in the men's section and finished 16th with a throw of 120-10 (36.85m).
North Dakota will take part in the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate at Long Beach State and begin the Bryan Clay Invitational on the campus of Azusa Pacific on Thursday. Live results for all meets can be found on FightingHawks.com.
