ASHLAND, Ohio – Two North Dakota throwers took part in the hammer throw sections at the Ashland Alumni Open on Friday.
Kenna Curry won the title in the invitational section, while
Eve Goldstein was the runner-up in the open section.
Curry won the invitational hammer throw title with a toss of 198-10 (60.62m). All nine of the student-athletes in the invitational section entered the meet with personal-best marks of 167-4 (51.00m) or better. Curry's lifetime best remains 207-2 (63.14m), which she set at the Ole Miss Classic at the end of March. Her PR in Oxford remains better than the minimum mark required for the Olympic trials, which is 206-8 (63.00m).
Goldstein was the runner-up in the open section of the hammer throw with a PR mark of 171-2 (52.17m). Coming into the meet, her best hammer throw mark was 168-2 (51.25m). Five of the throwers in the open section entered the day with best throws of 164-0 (50.00m) or better.
Curry and Goldstein will wrap-up competition at the Ashland Alumni Open on Saturday. Live results will continue to be provided by
