FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Jadyn Keeler and Frida Giersdorff both competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and wrapped up North Dakota's stay at the NCAA West Preliminary Round on Saturday evening.

Keeler finished 38th with a time of 10:51.59, while Giersdorff took 45th in 11:15.85. By competing in the steeplechase, they joined Luke Labatte as the only student-athletes in UND history to compete in the event at the NCAA Regional.

At the Summit League Outdoor Championships two weeks ago, Keeler won the gold medal in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and earned All-Summit League status with a time of 10:28.86. She also set a new school record in the process and broke her previous record of 10:35.60, which she set at the Stanford Invitational earlier in the season.

Keeler's time from the Summit League Outdoor Championships ranked No. 46 in the West Region at the end of the regular season and earned her a bid to the NCAA West Preliminary Round. She finished eight spots better than where she was projected to finish coming into the regional.

Giersdorff finished with the silver medal in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Summit League Outdoor Championships with a personal-best time of 10:29.78. Her time improved her No. 2 mark on the UND top-10 list and she came less than a second away from stealing the title from Keeler in the final 60 meters at the conference meet.

Following the conference championships, Giersdorff's time ranked No. 48 in the West Region at the end of the regular season and earned her a spot in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA West Regional. She finished three spots better than where she was projected to finish at the regional.

Labatte will conclude North Dakota's track and field season in two weeks, competing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The national championship meet will take place in Eugene, Ore., on June 5-8.
