NoDak Adds Six Event Wins on Final Day of NDSU Tune-Up

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota concluded the regular season on Friday at the NDSU Tune-Up and added six event wins and five improvements to the UND top-10 list. Over the two-day meet, the Fighting Hawks claimed seven titles.

UND's 4x100-meter relay team of Michael Mallory, Caleb Severson, Jory Vasek and Maxwell Roller were the first Hawks to take the track and the squad clocked a time of 42.12. They not only won the race with that time, but also posted the No. 9 relay time in program history.

Not to be outdone, the Fighting Hawk 4x100-meter relay squad Justina Esangbedo, Nadia Evans, Marta Marksa and Alimath Salou were the next runners from UND on the track and they also won in a time of 48.14. Their time currently sits No. 7 in school history.

Later in the afternoon, Salou returned to the track for the 100 meters and claimed the title with a time of 12.43.

Olivia Krafty won the first event crown of her collegiate career, winning the 1,500 meters in a time of 5:04.15.

Harris Maclean was the first Fighting Hawk to win a field event title, earning the win the men's pole vault with a clearance of 14-0 (4.27m).

Emily Ash won the women's pole vault crown with a personal-best height of 12-4 (3.76m). Her clearance not only won the title but also moved her up to No. 3 in UND history.

Tiffanie Magnusson entered her name on the UND top-10 list in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 19-6 (5.94m), which was good for the No. 3 jump in school history. She finished as the runner-up in that event.

Esangbedo also posted an improvement to the UND top-10 list in the triple jump with a PR mark of 37-10 1/2 (11.54m), good for the No. 8 jump in school history. She placed fourth in the event.

Thursday night, Kenna Curry was victorious in the hammer throw with a toss of 191-1 (58.25m). That throw not only won her the title, but also broke the meet record of 187-2 (57.05m), which was held by Brea Perron of Minnesota State.

North Dakota will visit St. Paul, Minn., for the Summit League Outdoor Championships on May 9-11.

* Kenna Curry won the hammer throw title and broke the meet record on Thursday. She won the crown with a toss of 191-1 (58.25m) and broke the meet record of 187-2 (57.05m), which was held by Brea Perron of Minnesota State.
* The Hawks also won titles in the men's 4x100-meter relay (Michael Mallory, Caleb Severson, Jory Vasek, Maxwell Roller), women's 4x100-meter relay (Justina Esangbedo, Nadia Evans, Marta Marksa, Alimath Salou), 100 meters (Salou), 1,500 meters (Olivia Krafty), men's pole vault (Harris Maclean) and women's pole vault (Emily Ash) on Friday.
* The men's 4x100-meter relay team moved up to No. 9 (42.12) on the UND top-10 list, while the women's 4x100-meter squad posted the No. 7 time (48.14) in school history.
* Tiffanie Magnusson also entered her name on the UND top-10 list in the long jump with a PR leap of 19-6 (5.94m), which was good for the No. 3 mark in program history.
* Esangbedo moved up to No. 8 in school history in the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 37-10 1/2 (11.54m).
* In the final event of the day, Ash cleared 12-4 (3.76m) in the pole vault and moved up to No. 3 in UND history in the event.
