ST. LOUIS, Mo. – North Dakota receiver
B.J. Fleming was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Newcomer of the Week, the conference offices announced Monday afternoon. Fleming joins linebacker
Malachi McNeal with a weekly accolade, as McNeal earned the titles of Stats Perform FCS National Defensive Player of the Week and the MVFC Defensive Player of the Week earlier on Monday.
Fleming, a transfer from Northern Arizona, led UND's receivers in the 35-17 win over RV/No. 20 Youngstown State last weekend. He hauled in a team-best five grabs for 84 yards and a pair of scores in the opening half, scoring the first touchdown of the game on a nine-yard reception and then extended the lead to 28-7 midway through the second quarter with a diving 14-yard grab.
The MVFC Newcomer of the Week award recognizes both freshmen and transfers who are new to the conference each week.
Fleming, McNeal and the Fighting Hawks will visit the No. 12/12 Salukis this Saturday. Kickoff between North Dakota and Southern Illinois is slated for 2 p.m. (CT). The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and carried on the Fighting Hawks Radio Network.
