No. 6 UND rolls to 6-1 exhibition victory over U.S. Under-18 Team

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Sixth-ranked North Dakota cruised to a 6-1 victory over the U.S. National Under-18 Team in exhibition action on Friday night from Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, N.D.
 
Six-different goal scorers found the back of the net for the Fighting Hawks, as the hosts struck for a trio of goals in the second and third periods to notch the program's 12 win over the U-18's in 14 tries.
 
Four skaters also recorded multiple points, with senior forward Ben Strinden continuing his hot play with a goal and a helper while sophomore forwards Mac Swanson and Cody Croal as well as sophomore defenseman Andrew Strathmann all dished out a pair of assists in the victory.
 
NoDak was also able to give all three of its netminders action, with the trio of goaltenders each playing a period. Graduate student Gibson Homer made nine saves in the opening 20, freshman Jan Špunar had five stops in the middle stanza and redshirt junior Zach Sandy closed out the contest with eight saves in the third.
 
Senior forwards Tyler Young and Dylan James as well as freshmen forwards Will Zellers, David Klee and Ollie Josephson joined Strinden as the goal scorers in the victory.
 
North Dakota will return back to regular season play with a home-and-home series against Bemidji State beginning on Friday night at 7:37 p.m. from Sanford Center.
