OMAHA, Neb. -- The University of North Dakota women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to Creighton on Saturday evening from the Hanscom Tennis Center in Omaha, Neb.
UND (12-6) fell into an early 1-0 hole in doubles action, as Creighton captured a pair of wins on the No. 1 and 3 courts to grab the advantage. The middle pairing of
Jule Schulte and
Nore Heinitz notched a victory in two-person play, however, rolling to 6-3 triumph.
Creighton extended the lead to 2-0, but NoDak got on the board from the bottom spot, as
Alyssa Giupponi grabbed a win by a 6-3, 6-4 score to pull the visitors within a point at 2-1.
Schulte then brought the match level at 2-2 from the No. 3 court with a 6-4, 6-1 win, but Creighton responded with back-to-back victories to close out the match victory. Heinitz added the final point of the day for the Hawks with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 triumph at the fourth position.
North Dakota wil return home to battle South Dakota on Friday, Apr. 4 at 2 p.m. from Choice Health and Fitness.
