UND Spring Showcase set for April 25

| By:

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Following 14 spring practices, the North Dakota football team will host the UND Spring Showcase on Friday, April 25, inside the Pollard Athletic Center.

UND's Spring Showcase will not feature a full 60-minute game but will resemble something closer to a game than years past and will feature roughly 70 plays. The opening quarter will feature roughly 25 plays and will have plays throughout the length of the field and will close with eight punts. The second quarter will be series of two-minute drills before halftime. The third quarter will consist of roughly 20 plays from the 50-yard line and will conclude with 1-on-1 tackling drills. The game will end with about 15 plays from the red-zone. The competition will begin around 6:20 p.m. and should wrap-up near 8 p.m.

The scoring system used for the contest will be different than a typical football game. For the offense, it will be traditional with scores coming in the form of touchdowns (6 points), extra points (1 point), field goals (3 points) and two-point conversions (2 points). For the defense, it will have non-traditional scoring with takeaways (7 points), 3 & outs (3 points), missed field goals (2 points) and defensive stops (2 points). During the game, the offense will be wearing white jerseys and the defense will be in green.

The Fighting Hawks Radio Network will carry the Spring Showcase on 1440 KKXL-AM and 740 KNFL-AM, with Jack Michaels, Mike Berg and Paul Ralston on hand bringing the show starting at 6:30 p.m. Segments from the show will also be placed on the Hawk Talk page inside the iHeart Radio App for fans to go back and listen at their convenience.

Fighting Hawk yard signs and football schedule magnets will be available at the event. A coloring/poster station will be provided for youth to enjoy along the main course, as well as tailgate games on the outside of the track near the bottom of the staircase. The UND Bookstore will also have tables at the event and will be selling merchandise.

New football season tickets are available and start at just $135. More information can be found at TheRalph.com and representatives from the ticket office will also be at the Spring Showcase. Fans can enter to win a Coach Schmidt signed football helmet at the season ticket table.
