Kraft Hits Career-High Six Triples, Hawks Fly Past Golden Eagles to Secure Road Victory

UND will be back in action on the road at Denver on Saturday at 3 p.m.

TULSA, Okla.Zach Kraft shot 8-for-9 from the field and 6-of-7 from deep, to lead the North Dakota men's basketball team to a road win over Oral Roberts by a score of 79-62 on Thursday night from Mabee Center. The Fighting Hawks improve to 11-12 overall and 5-2 in conference play, while Oral Roberts drops to 5-16 and 0-6 in the Summit League.

 Kraft had a career-high 22 points, while the six three pointers were also an individual best. The six triples are the most by a UND player this season.

Eli King filled up the stat sheet, recording 18 points, seven rebounds, seven steals, five assists and zero turnovers on 7-of-13 from the field. The seven steals were a career-high and the most by a UND player in the Division l era.

Greyson Uelmen (14) and Garrett Anderson (10) rounded out the four UND players in double figures, as those four starters combined for 64 of the teams 79 points on the evening.

It was another game of UND being in control, holding a lead for 33:47 of gametime. The Hawks led by as many as 20, forcing 18 Oral Roberts turnovers, compared to just six of their own.

North Dakota shot 27-for-62 (43.5%) from the field, connecting on 9-of-16 (56.3%) triples and 16-of-18 (88.9%) free throw attempts. The Fighting Hawks held Oral Roberts to 20-of-48 (41.7%) shooting and 3-of-19 (15.8%) from behind the arc. It tied the least amount of three pointers UND has given up this season.

It was a slow start offensively for both teams, as there were just 28 combined points in the first 10 minutes of the ball game. There were four lead changes in the first 10 minutes, with neither team leading by more than one-possession. UND held a 15-13 lead at the 10:23 mark.

After the first quarter of the game, the Hawks began to find themselves, going on a 13-5 run over the next 5:07, to go up 28-18 with 5:16 in the first half. The Golden Eagles got the Hawks lead back down to five, cutting the score to 29-24, but a Kraft three-pointer, quickly pushed it to a 32-24 UND lead with 2:29 to play in the first half.

The two squads then scored four points each, as UND held a 36-28 halftime lead. Kraft connected on three first half deep balls, totaling a team-high 11 points in the first 20 minutes.

UND was able to build a quick 12-point advantage early in the second half, holding a 42-30 lead with 16:27 remaining. The Golden Eagles had a slight run in them, going on a 6-0 run over the next 1:32, to make it a 42-36 game.

The Fighting Hawks answered with six points of their own, to push the lead right back to 12. Oral Roberts then scored four points, making it a 50-42 game, but a King triple pushed the lead to 11, at 53-42 with 10:26 to play.

UND would lead in double figures the rest of the game, up by as many as 20. North Dakota forced 11 second half Oral Roberts turnovers, to help secure a 79-62 road victory.
