MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The month-long road trip kicked off on Friday for North Dakota women's tennis with an afternoon match against the Minnesota Gophers that saw the Fighting Hawks fall, 6-1.
The home team made quick work of doubles action, first taking a 6-1 win off court No. 3 before securing the doubles point with the 6-0 win at court No. 2.

Jule Schulte put up a fight at the top spot to remain undefeated as a duo, but the Gophers completed the sweep with a 6-3 win to go up 1-0 overall.
Minnesota's lead increased to 3-0 after taking wins from Li (6-0, 6-4) and Schulte (6-2, 6-3) at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots.
Alyssa Giupponi collected her third straight singles victory with a controlling 6-0, 6-3 performance at the No. 5 position to give UND its lone point in the afternoon affair.
The clinching-win came from the fourth spot before the Gophers grabbed the final two singles matches to secure the 6-1 final score.
North Dakota returns to action tomorrow morning with an 11 a.m. scheduled match against Drake.
