Will Zellers named NCHC Forward of the Week

| By:
GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Sophomore forward Will Zellers has been named NCHC Forward of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday morning. This is the second weekly honor of Zellers' career and the first time claiming the league's top forward award.

The Maple Grove, Minn., native is coming off a torrid offensive week in a two-game sweep over Bemidji State, potting two goals and dishing out four assists for six points. He dished out a career-high three assists in Friday's 3-2 road victory before scoring two power play goals and notching another helper in Saturday's 4-3 home victory. In total, Zellers factored into six of UND's seven tallies on the weekend.

Zellers becomes the first UND player to open the season with six points since Brock Boeser (1G, 5A) did so on Oct. 7-8, 2016 vs. Canisius and joins Zach Parise (5G, 3A) on Oct. 11-12, 2002 as the only player to have at least three points in back-to-back games to begin the season.

He currently leads the NCHC in points per game (3.00), assists per game (2.00), power play goals (2) and is tied for second in overall points (6).

No. 4 North Dakota remains home this weekend for a showdown with first-time opponent Bentley beginning on Friday night at 7:07 p.m. (CT) from Ralph Engelstad Arena.
