Friday will be the 302nd all-time meeting between North Dakota and Minnesota, with the Golden Gophers holding a 147-138-16 all-time lead in the series.

The two sides met last season in Grand Forks, with the Fighting Hawks capturing a 5-2 victory in the series opener before Minnesota responded with a 5-1 win in Saturday's finale to notch a series split.

This season is the second of a stretch of four straight years of matchups between the longtime rivals, with the 2027-28 series returning to Grand Forks.

A win on Friday night would end the series on a bit of a typical route, as the two teams have split the last four series entering this weekend (2021, 2022, 2023, 2025).
