GRAND FORKS, N.D. – North Dakota women's soccer tied its Thursday afternoon match with Omaha, 0-0, at Bronson Field, despite maintaining the pace of the match and a stifling defensive effort.
The Fighting Hawks (5-5-2, 1-2-1 Summit League) and the Mavericks (3-5-4, 2-1-1 Summit League) were locked in a defensive stalemate for the entirety of the match. North Dakota mounted early shots to set the tone but were unable to capitalize on such opportunities.
Cora Ellermann paced the Hawks with three shots, two of which were on goal, while goalkeeper
Thale Ruether went 1-for-1 on saves
North Dakota spent much of the start of the game pressing in Omaha's territory, securing the first three shots, including one on goal, of the match despite Omaha getting an early corner kick. However, neither team picked up much offensive momentum for the remainder of the period. Both teams added an extra corner kick, which resulted in no shots for either team.
The Fighting Hawks held the Mavericks to zero first half shots. Last time North Dakota held a team shotless through the first 45 minutes was against Prairie View on August 17, 2025.
UND secured its next corner kick and shot on goal by the 65th minute, but the story remained linear. Momentum swung in the direction of the Mavericks in the 82nd minute, when Omaha posted its first shot attempt of the game. Omaha added three additional shots in the final seven minutes of the match, but the score remained as the clock hit zero.
North Dakota outshot Omaha, 8-4, maintaining the Hawks undefeated record this season when producing more shots than their opponents.
North Dakota will close out its three-match homestand on Sunday, Oct. 11, when it faces St. Thomas at Bronson Field. First kick is set for 1 p.m. CT.
