FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota track and field concluded weekend competition with the second day of action at the Bison Open, collecting nine top-five finishes on the day inside Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Facility.
Anya Williams collected a pair of top-three finishes with her second-place showing in the high jump (5-4 1/2, 1.64m) and third-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of (37-6 3/4, 11.45m).
Ava Phrakonkham ran a 7.76 in the event finals of the 60-meter dash, tying her personal best, and finished as runner-up. Also competing,
Gretchen Raney (7.80) finished fourth and
Alimath Salou (7.84) took sixth.
In the 60-meter hurdles,
Ryan Lange took third place on the men's half of the event with his time of 8.43 while
Marta Marksa took third in the women's half after clocking an 8.69. Marksa went on to add in a runner-up finish in the women's 400-meter dash in 58.68 as Kim Hitchen won the event in 57.68.
Julia Matthews collected a top-five showing in the shot put with her mark of 46-1 1/2 (14.06m) while
Haidyn Skeen (45-2 1/4, 13.77m) finished with a new personal best.
North Dakota track and field will split between the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass., and the SDSU Indoor Classic in Brookings, S.D., for competition next week on Friday, February 13 and Saturday, February 14.
