LINCOLN, Neb. – A neutral site match ended in a 4-0 loss for the North Dakota men's tennis team as the Fighting Hawks dropped to Ole Miss on Saturday evening inside the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center.
The Rebels took control early after securing a pair of doubles matches from the first and third courts, respectively.
Walker Valentine and
Christos Alex fell first, 6-2, at the No. 3 spot before
Kotaro Matsumura and
Darrshan Suresh Kumar fell, 6-3. With the double points secure, the contest in the middle court went unfinished for the duo of
Justin Ilic and
Leo Galliano.
Singles action continued the momentum for Ole Miss, who collected three straight matches to secure the team victory. It came in the form of a 6-1, 6-2 showing at the fifth court before taking the No. 3 (6-2, 6-2) and No. 4 (6-2, 6-2) positions in order to clinch the 4-0 win.
North Dakota men's tennis will be back in action on Sunday afternoon to conclude the weekend road trip with an 11 a.m. match against the host Nebraska Huskers.
