TULSA, Okla. – The University of North Dakota women's tennis team fell, 4-0, on Saturday morning to No. 66 Denver in the 2026 Summit League Women's Tennis Championship match at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
With the loss, the Fighting Hawks' season comes to an end with an overall record of 14-10, finishing just one victory shy of clinching the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tennis Championships for the first time in the Division I era.
North Dakota attempted to battle early but ran into a strong Pioneer team during doubles competition. No. 1 seed Denver secured the early 1-0 lead after a pair of 6-3 wins from the first and second positions, leaving the third spot unfinished at 4-3 with the duo of
Alyssa Giupponi and
Emma Roberts in the lead.
The Pioneers continued with the momentum in singles play by taking the opening sets across all six courts before securing three straight two-set match wins on the No. 6, 4, and 1 courts to clinch their 12
th consecutive championship title.
