Fighting Hawks Bring in Le Moyne Transfer Samuel Hincapie

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – University of North Dakota men's basketball Head Coach Paul Sather announced the addition of guard Samuel Hincapie on Thursday.

Hincapie joins UND after spending last season at Le Moyne College (Division l) and the previous two years at Lake Land Community College. He will have at least one year of eligibility remaining.

"Samuel is a long, athletic wing with a versatile game that fits in well with how we play on both ends of the floor," said Sather. "He's a high pace, high effort player that can really run the floor and attack the rim. We identified Samuel last year in the recruiting process and can't wait to get him on campus and start getting to work. We think Hawk Nation will love watching him play!"

A native of Medellin, Colombia, Hincapie averaged 4.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game across 30 games and 15.5 minutes per contest on 43.5% from the field this past season with Le Moyne. He scored in double figures eight times, pouring in a season-high 18 points along with five rebounds and four assists on 8-of-12 shooting in a win over Saint Francis on Jan. 2.

The 6-foot-6 guard showed flashes of shooting the ball effectively from downtown, making a three-pointer in nine different contests while hitting two in five games. He most recently made two from behind the arc on Feb. 14 against Chicago State, going 2-of-4 from deep. Overall, he was 14-for-52 on the season from three-point range.

Prior to Le Moyne, Hincapie played two seasons at the NJCAA Division l level with Lake Land Community College, earning Great Rivers Athletic Conference Player of the Year, along with both NJCAA Third Team All-American and All-Region 24 honors in 2024-25. He led the Lakers to a 23-9 season, averaging 17.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists on 67.4% from the field and 50.0% from deep across 32 games for the nation's ninth-highest scoring offense (91.9 points per game).

The rising senior scored double-digit points 25 times, with 12 performances of 20 or more points. He recorded a career-high 30 points on Feb. 1, 2025 against Rend Lake College on 13-of-21 from the field. He had seven games with at least 10 made field goals and shot over 50.0% in 28-of-32 contests. Over a span of seven games between Dec. 11 and Jan. 15, Hincapie shot a ridiculous 85.9% from the field on 61-of-71 shooting, averaging 22.0 points per game during that frame.

As a freshman in 2023-24, Hincapie averaged 8.0 points and 3.8 rebounds per game on 51.4% from the field across 25 games and nine starts. He had nine games with 10 or more points and two contests with at least 20, compiling a 26-point performance on Feb. 3, 2024 against Kaskaskia College. He compiled a double-double on Feb. 17, 2024 against Olney Central College with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
