| By:
GRAND FORKS, N.D. – North Dakota track and field's own Louis-Lys Fanucchi and Jadyn Keeler will hit the track one last time this season as they take on the NCAA Outdoor Championships this week in Eugene, Ore. Action is set to last from Wednesday to Saturday out west.

It all starts on Wednesday for the Fighting Hawks as Fanucchi takes on the 3000-meter steeplechase at approximately 7:38 p.m. central time. Should he finish in the top five of his heat or have one of the two next best times, he will compete in the event finals on Friday evening at 7:24 p.m. central time. Keeler will take on a pair of distance races in the form of the 10,000-meter run on Thursday (9:56 p.m. CT) and the 5000-meter run on Saturday (8:55 p.m. CT), which each serving as event finals.

The three total bids for North Dakota come after a stand-out showing at the NCAA West Preliminary Round from May 27-30 in Fayetteville, Ark.

Keeler first struck gold for the Fighting Hawks on day two of the meet, clocking a 32:11.14 in the women's 10,000-meter run to secure her first bid. She finished third overall in the field, which marked an improvement from her initial No. 4 spot entering the regional meet. The senior then followed that up with a school-record-breaking time of 15:26.87 in the 5000-meter run to punch ticket No. 2 alongside her fifth-place finish—marking yet another initial ranking improvement as she sat 10th entering the event.

As for Fanucchi, the Frenchman made headlines on day three of the meet off his school-record showing in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Crossing the finish line in 8:33.56 to finish third in his heat marked a new personal best and the fastest time in North Dakota program history. It also helped him clinch the automatic bid to the national championships as a top-three heat-finisher before finishing seventh overall.
