GRAND FORKS, N.D. – North Dakota's 2026 exhibition slate ended on a high note as the Fighting Hawks took control in the first half en route to collecting a 3-0 win over Regina on Sunday afternoon at Bronson Field.
The first strike came on the shot from
Jojo Muelhaupt, who netted one in the 20
th minute off the assist from
Charlie Basinet to take the 1-0 lead. North Dakota then extended that lead to 2-0 off a Basinet solo shot in the 26
th minute in a score that would remain until the halftime buzzer.
North Dakota came out fiery in the second half, logging seven of their 12 total shots over the final 45 minutes. One of those attempts resulted in the third goal of the day for the home team, this time off the foot of
Hannah Peters off the assist from Basinet at the start of the 53
rd minute.
And despite allowing the visiting Cougars to attempt a shot in the first half, the Fighting Hawks turned up the all-around defense to hold Regina to zero shot attempts in the second half. The visitors were also held to just one corner kick over the 90 minutes while North Dakota tallied four on the day, including three in the second half alone.
Jacque Worden and
Jacinda Hevesy-Rodriguez split goalkeeper duties in the afternoon affair, playing in the first and second half of the shutout, respectively.
The 2026 regular season will officially begin this week for the Fighting Hawks on the road as they take on Minnesota on Thursday, August 13 at 7 p.m.
