2024 (Graduate): Was named Honorable Mention Summit League catcher, started every game she played in for the third straight season, and every game the team played for the second straight season…finished her career with 112 straight starts and became the first player in program history to surpass 200 career games played…tied for fourth in the nation with 18 runners caught stealing…ranked tenth in the Summit League with a .319 batting average in conference games…was one of six players in the conference with two or more sac fly’s…hit a season high three hits in the series opener against North Dakota State…scored two runs in the aforementioned game against NDSU and also at Nebraska…finished the year with three doubles
2023 (Senior) – Played in all 50 games, starting every one—only Hawk to play in every game…named First Team All Summit League and named Defensive Player of the Year in the Conference)…caught 21 batters stealing, which was second most in the country…set new career highs in almost every offensive category, including batting average (.318-second on team, 8th in Summit League), runs scored (24-second on team), hits (49-led team, 8th in Summit League), doubles (13-led team, 4th in Summit League), home runs (5-tied for team lead), RBI (30-second on team, tied for 9th in Summit League)
2022 (Junior): Started 47 games behind the plate...Accumulated a .276 Average racking up 37 hits including 9 doubles and 14 RBIs...In the field she was solid recording a .989 FLD% with 153 putouts and 25 assists on 180 total chances...Caught 16 of 28 runners stealing.Â
2021 (Sophomore): Started 31 of the 34 games behind the dish...Had a .161 Average recording 14 hits and 7 RBIs...Had a .991 FLD% with 95 putouts and 12 assists on 108 total chances...Threw out 8 runners on 35 stolen base attempts.Â
2020 (Freshman): Appeared in 14 games and made 13 starts behind the plate ... Finished with seven hits and led the squad with three doubles ... Recorded her first hit and RBI in her debut vs. Incarnate Word ... Followed it up with her first multi-hit game of her career and an RBI vs. Texas Southern ... Had a double, RBI, and two hits in the win vs. Boise State ... Drove in another run with a double against Brown ... Threw out one attempted stolen base on two attempts ... Finished with 61 putouts for a .985 fielding percentage.Â
Before UND:Â The first of three signees of this class from the desert ... Castaneda shined behind the plate and in the infield for Sabino High School in Tucson, Ariz ... She was named to the 2018 All-Southern Arizona Second Team after earning first team honors in 2017 ... Served as the team captain this past season ...
