- Just four years after winning its first championship, UND put its second championship in the Fighting Sioux record book.
- Avenging the loss to Denver in the title game in 1958, the Soux defeated the Pioneers in the 1963 Championship by a 6-5 score.
- UND had three first team All-Americans: defenseman Don Ross, Roseau, Minn., forward Al McLean, New Westminster, B.C., and forward Dave Merrifield, Thunder Bay, Ont. It would be the most first-team selections until it was equalled in 1987.
- McLean was named the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player.
- On the all-tournament team were George Goodacre, Red Deer, Alberta., Ross, McLean, Merrifield, and Don Stokaluk, F, Thunder Bay, Ontario.
- Ross, Merrifield, McLean, and Joe Lech, Glen Bain, Saskatchewan, were named All-WCHA.
- Head coach Barry Thorndycraft, in the third of his four-year coaching career at UND won his only NCAA title in 1963. Thorndycraft finished his coaching career at UND with a 71-65-8 (.521) mark from 1959-64.
