GRAND FORKS, N.D.- University of North Dakota head baseball coach Kelvin Ziegler announced today that the Sioux’s season-opening trip to Lincoln, Mo. has been cancelled due to inclement weather. The Sioux were to play double-headers against host Lincoln University on Feb. 22 and 23, but the recent cold conditions rendered the games unplayable.
No make-up dates have been announced, nor will be expected as the Sioux’s schedule remains fairly packed for the remainder of the spring. UND will now open the 2003 slate with games in Kansas City, Mo. next weekend. The Sioux will face Rockhurst and Wayne State College (Neb.) on Sat. March 1. On Sun. March 2, the Sioux will battle Washburn University in the morning affair before a rematch with Wayne State College at 1:30 p.m. All four games are scheduled to be played at Hidden Valley Park in Blue Springs, Mo., Rockhurst’s temporary home baseball field.
