University of North Dakota head football coach Bubba Schweigert announced the hiring of Tom Dosch as the outside linebackers coach on March of 2023. The 2024 season will be his second season on staff since returning to UND
.
With the help of Coach Dosch’s direction, outside linebacker Ted Mullin had a breakout year in 2023 and earned honorable mention All-MVFC status. Mullin tied for No. 18 in the MVFC in interceptions per game (0.18) and tied for the team-lead with two picks. He started the season with a two-point conversion attempt return for a score in the 37-22 win over Northern Arizona in the Potato Bowl USA Game and recorded a 33-yard pick-six in the 49-10 victory over Western Illinois. Mullin finished the season fifth on the team in both tackles (37.0) and solo stops (25.0).

Dosch has a wealth of coaching experience, highlighted by 10 years as the head coach at Northern State. He coached the Wolves from 2010-19 and helped NSU win a share of the NSIC North Division Title in 2015 with a 6-5 record.

That season, the Wolves finished second in the North and fourth in the league, making it their best finish since 2005 at the time.

Prior to his time at Northern State, Dosch spent two seasons at Southern Illinois University, coaching the inside linebackers and serving as the special teams coordinator. The Salukis won the MVFC titles both of those seasons and qualified for the NCAA FCS playoffs in both 2008 and 2009, finishing the 2008 season ranked eighth nationally. SIU was also ranked No. 1 in both national polls at the end of the 2009 season.

Dosch began his head coaching career at Jamestown College, where he compiled a record of 25-17 through four seasons (2004-07). With his leadership, the Jimmies qualified for the NAIA playoffs twice and were ranked as high as No. 6 in 2007. He also served as the offensive coordinator and assistant head coach for the Jimmies in the 1995 season.

UND fans are familiar with Coach Dosch, as he spent eight seasons as the defensive line and outside linebackers coach at North Dakota from 1995-2003. Dosch also served as a graduate assistant for the Fighting Sioux in the 1993-94 seasons. North Dakota won five North Central Conference titles (1993, 1994, 1999, 2001 and 2003) and made national title game appearances in 2001 and 2003 in that span, winning the Division II National Championship in 2001.

From 2020-22, Dosch was a voice on the radio for UND football games, serving as the analyst for all games on the Home of Economy Radio Network. He also spent those three years with the University of North Dakota Alumni Association and Foundation, most notably being responsible for primary fundraising for the UND School of Law.

Prior to his coaching career, Dosch was a four-year letterwinner and two-year starter at Dickinson State. He also spent two seasons with the basketball program before graduating in 1992. After his collegiate playing career, Dosch spent the 1991 season coaching the wide receivers at Dickinson State.
