Brian Strom was elevated to the position of Assistant Athletics Director of Facilities and Aquatics Operations in February of 2023. Strom, the longest-tenured employee at North Dakota Athletics, previously served as North Dakota's head diving coach for nearly 30 years.

In his role as Assistant Athletics Director of Facilities and Aquatics Operations, Strom handles facility operations and external rentals on all athletic department buildings while also serving as the main contact for the Hyslop Sports Center pool area.

In 2014-15, Richard Eberle wrapped up one the most successful UND diving careers, leaving the school with all three diving records intact (1-meter, 3-meter, platform).

Strom began coaching at UND midway through the 1990-91 season and was named North Central Conference Diving Coach of the Year for that season. He went on to received that honor nine more times: 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2005.

Under his direction, 21 divers have earned a total of 69 All-America honors while competing for North Dakota. Strom also coached the Sioux to 44 NCAA Division II top-five finishes and 16 different divers have been voted NCC Diver of the Year.

In 2003, Erin Borgschatz captured UND's first female NCAA national title.

That summer, Strom was named the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sports Writers Association's Female Team Coach of the Year and NCAA Division II Diving Coach of the Year.

In 2004, he coached Kasey Moseley to UND's first male NCAA national title.

A native of Topeka, Kan., Strom graduated from the University of Minnesota-Crookston in 1978 with a degree in natural resources and from the University of North Dakota in 2002 with a degree in physical education.

Strom currently resides in Grand Forks with his wife, Kimberly, and their daughter, Jenna.
